    Description
    1941 Plymouth 4 Door Sedan
Ask anyone who knows about old cars, and they'll tell you that '40s Mopars like this 1941 Plymouth are some of the best-driving cars of the period. The durable six-cylinder engines are a match for Ford's erstwhile flathead V8, and with better brakes and suspension, they're just a delight to drive. And few look better than the 4-door sedan.
Presenting in wonderful red, this 1941 Plymouth 4-door sedan has become a driver's classic, and mild street rod. A larger 305ci V8 engine topped with a new Holley 650cfm carb, and a TH350 3-speed automatic, all controlled by the driver who now resides in a fancy new interior.
    Exterior
In 1941, Plymouth's advantage was modern styling, and few body styles are more attractive than this 4-door sedan. The knobby pointed nose with smoothly integrated headlights and fenders that are slowly migrating into the body, and a trimming that rises from the V shaped front grille with dual flanking rounded horizontal ribbed openings it is decidedly a Plymouth. The finish is red, and some invasive rust is noted starting to migrate in the bottoms of the doors near the running boards. Also, throughout surface rust can be seen under the paint bubbling up through it and there are a few areas of cracking and crazing. Details like the front grille, the never-ending trim spear running from stem to stern, have made this handsome Plymouth appear to be a far more upscale car than its original sticker price might suggest. A metal visor is in front of the roof and shading the split windscreen. Running boards are still here but like the fenders, gradually disappearing. On the rounded over rear of the car starting from the oval rear glass and undulating downward framing the trunk and rear bumper panel, and emulating the rear fenders, we see some painted pinstripe flourishes, a chromed badge, and vertical rectangular taillights. 15-inch polished mag style wheels are wrapped by raised white lettering Mastercraft Avenger G/T rubber.
    Interior
Back in the 40's when motoring was still young, Plymouth made it a point to shuttle their customers in style. Like new textured broadcloth in tan and a peppering of brown speckles, low back form buckets are now in. A rear bench in the same pattern is playing matchy, matchy. These seats are fronted by a custom dash retaining its full metal jacket, painted red to match the exterior, and sporting a metal plate for the instrument cluster. Within this plate are cream faced VDO gauges that are encased within brass bezels. In the center, the Art Deco styled speaker covering remains but has a new clock inserted, and some billet knobs. Below the dash is a canvas covered, seat matching panel which supports the vents for4 the vintage air, and a shelf for the AM/FM/CD radio. In front of the passenger is a metal glove box all within the red painted metal dash top. More canvas fabric for the headliner and visors, and in the center of the floor is a small custom fabricated console with glove box and cupholders. This sits on a brown and tan speckled carpeted floor.
    Drivetrain
A 305ci V8 with its industrial patina look in shades of muted gray polish, and stainless braided hoses, the engine has an overall gently used and industrial/machine age quality, that I really think looks fab! This mill is fed by a new Holley 650cfm 4-barrel carb, and a TH350 3-speed automatic on back with a 10-bolt Camaro rear axle.
    Undercarriage
An all buttoned up and structurally sound X frame and solid floor pans and rockers make up the bottom of this rod. With independent coil springs upfront attached to a Camaro subframe and leaf springs for the rear and now power disc brakes in front. A Turbo muffler exhaust system is bolted on and snakes its way from front to rear.
    Drive-Ability
A comfortable interior provides lots of conveniences that work perfectly when we fire up this Plymouth. Off to the test track, (yup it's one of the hazards of the job but I must confide fun with my decoder and muscle car expert and partner in crime yapping as we go along), where this car performed just wonderfully, all working conveniences, and a smooth ride and good cruiser.
This Plymouth is a nice looker, has a few issues on the doors and thresholds and has some spotty areas of bubbling below the paint. But it retains most of its original charm and has a powerful mill under the hood. A new interior using the old dash with some new add ons, and fancy gauges, we are ready to set sail in this Plymouth. Pocahontas here we come!
