Description
My great aunt attended the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music during the early twentieth century. She was a gifted pianist and also learned to specialize in the very early music-and-movement classes for children. As I was told, she taught at the conservatory. I personally recall her in later years instructing groups of children in her home. My siblings and I always loved playing her many rhythm instruments when we visited Canarsie, Brooklyn. I am offering a cherished tambourine, eight and one-half inches inches in diameter and weighing 8 ounces, because I think that it is likely rare and a relic of a very much bygone era, worth owning and displaying in spite of the tear in the skin on one side. My great aunt was born in 1891 and began teaching as a young woman. Thank you for looking.
