General Finishes Water-Based Exterior 450 Clear Varnish Top Coat Finish (Gallon)

Description

Designed for exterior wood applications, EXTERIOR 450 provides protection that will withstand the rigors of the sun, rain, and wind. Can be used as a tint base to create custom colors. It is suitable for vertical surfaces such as fences, patio furniture, garage doors, entrance doors, and interior windows. It is not recommended as a deck finish. Fortified with UV absorbers to stabilize the finish, Exterior 450's built-in mildewcide retards mold and mildew growth. Exterior 450 performs well as a clear coat or as an optional topcoat over General Finishes Milk Paint. Warning: We do not recommend Exterior 450 stains or topcoats for exotic woods Ipe, Teak, or other dense oily woods that will get exposure. Exterior 450 can amber over time, and will need reapplication in totally exposed conditions.

Sanding:
On bare wood sand to 150 - 180 grit. Use 220 - 400 grit gray flexible sanding pads between coats or 400 grit sandpaper.

Cure Time:
Cure time for all General Finishes products is about 14 days under ideal conditions (70 degrees and 70% humidity). However, this may vary slightly with humidity and temperature. Good ventilation, air movement and higher temperatures will accelerate dry time.
Application:
Acrylic brush, foam brush, paint pad applicator, or spray. Apply a minimum of 3 coats for best results.
