VICTORIAN BRASS or IRON GRILL
USE AS IT WAS INTENDED -- AS A REGISTER -- GRILL -- EXCHANGE COVER --
DROP in a RECESSED SPACE of a DINING OR COFFEE TABLE --
or
PLACE it on 3 EQUAL HEIGHT PLANTING POTS & IT'LL HOLD POUNDS of POTTED PLANTS
Using it as decoration is limited only by your imagination.
MEASURES --   48" Long x 8-1/2" Wide
with a Fleur de Lys pattern
It Looks Like Wrought Iron.  A Patch I Cleaned Years Ago - Top Left - Main Photo -- Looks Like Brass.
(It's since gotten darker.)
There Are Spots Where the Surface Rubbed That Look Like Copper But it's a Hard Metal.
IF YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS PLEASE TELL ME.
Leave it As Is or Clean it Properly -- it's a Gorgeous Grill Either Way.
There are 4 holes along each long side to secure it to a metal frame or wood =

With my limited knowledge I'd say it dates around 1880's to 1890's based on the design.
A friend who does Estate Sales told me I've undervalued it by 0.
